A patent, licensed exclusively to AuRx, has been filed by the University of Maryland Baltimore entitled, Prevention of Recurrent Viral Disease by Inducing Viral Specific Immunity Including CD8+ Cytotoxic T Cell Response.

The invention discloses compositions and methods for ameliorating or reducing recurrent viral disease, which compositions and methods result in an increase in virus specific immunoglobulin subclasses, interferons and interleukin ratios. The present invention also discloses methods to identify agents which can induce the immune response necessary for ameliorating or reducing recurrent viral disease, such as in HIV, herpes, Epstein Barr virus, human papilloma virus, hepatitis C virus or cytomegalovirus.
